M2: Spanish GP: JiR preview

After the postponement of the Japanese Grand Prix due to the recent volcanic ash fallout that covered a large part of Europe, the World Championship now heads to Spain and Jerez de la Frontera, for the second appointment of the 2010 season. Both riders and teams have already had the chance of testing their machines at this circuit during the two pre-season tests sessions and therefore already have some data to work on for the race.

Although JiR's machines were stuck in transit before being due to head to Japan, JiR Moto2 Team's technicians had no time to rest and went on analyzing data from the Jerez tests to develop technical solutions for any potential issues they may have during practice and the race in Spain.

The two riders Simone Corsi and Mattia Pasini have spent a lot of their time training, but they're now anxious to ride again and are very enthusiastic thanks to the good results gained in Qatar.

"In the Losail race Mattia and Simone managed to make an outstanding recovery and finish the race in good positions, making the mechanics and team very happy for their efforts and bringing home important points for the Championship. The two MotoBI machines gave excellent feedback to the modifications we applied and the season has now just begun. The cancellation of the Japanese race took away from us the chance of testing some ideas we had planned, as we would have had the opportunity to compare data with TSR - our chassis technical partner - as they would have ran the 600cc Japanese Championship rider Teshima-san as a wild card. Jerez will however be an important testing field, as we'll have the data we collected in March and we will be able to see what steps forward we have made."
