M2: Valencian GP: Gresini Racing Friday report

ELIAS EIGHTH FASTEST AT VALENCIA

After an intense day's work on a new Moriwaki chassis Toni Elias lies eighth on the time sheets overnight, ahead of tomorrow's final free practice and qualifying sessions at Valencia. So far the Spaniard and his crew have done an excellent job setting the bike up and Elias is confident he can use it to sign off in style from the Moto2 World Championship, having lifted the title at the first attempt. Vladimir Ivanov also enjoyed a positive day as he continues to recover form following his injury.

Toni Elias ( 8th 1'37" 241) "If you look only at the lap times it wasn't a great day for us but the explanation is that we tried a new chassis and I was very happy with it. Tomorrow we will continue working to set it up because we have decided to use it for the race on Sunday. We made the most important adjustments to it today and tomorrow it's a case of refining a few details and making sure we improve our speed. I'd like to have a good race on Sunday and honour the title with a victory, which would be the perfect way to end my time in the class."

Vladimir Ivanov (24th 1'37" 840) "I said that I wanted to improve here at Valencia after a couple of disappointing races and we have achieved that. I am 24th but not too far from the positions that count and tomorrow we'll keep working in the same way to try and have a good race on Sunday."

Fausto Gresini "We have done a lot of work today and we were up against the clock. We are testing a new chassis that we have decided to use on Sunday and we weren't strictly looking for lap times today. We are happy because we are working towards next year without losing sight of the fact that we want to finish off the season with Toni in style on Sunday."
