Ducati against journalists in Shell Advance media go-karting challenge
Ducati MotoGP Project Director, Livio Suppo, took victory in a pre-race weekend go-karting contest hosted by technical partner Shell Advance. The 2009 Shell Advance Malaysian MotoGP build up kicked off on Thursday evening at Sepang International Circuit, with the Ducati Team racing on the 11-turn go-kart track against a range of Shell's media guests from across the Asian region.
Over 40 journalists from China, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines rose to the challenge of competing against the seasoned Ducati race-winners and delivered some quick lap times throughout the session on the 1.2km track. However, the podium places were eventually dominated by the Ducati Team, with Livio Suppo battling test rider Vittoriano Guareschi and Gabriele Conti (Stoner's data engineer) all the way to the chequered flag for the race win!
Ducati MotoGP Project Director, Livio Suppo commented, "The go-karting was a lot of fun, so thank you to Shell for organising it. I would like to do it again next year, but next time I would like a faster kart to make the win easier!"
