Marquez insists he's not worried about winless streak

The 24-year-old factory Honda rider has scored two DNFs this year, crashing in both Argentina and Le Mans, but has stood on the podium in four of the other six races.

But, for the second time in his premier class career, Marquez has only won once in the opening eight races of the year, his sole triumph so far coming at Austin, where he is unbeaten as a MotoGP rider.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's Sachsenring race, Marquez said he was not worried about his lack of wins this year, and outlined the importance of being consistently at the top.

"I like to win and I want to win, and I would love to have taken three, four or five wins this year," said Marquez, who is 11 points behind Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso in the standings.

"This year we’ve had one victory [so far], but what I look at is that we are only 11 points behind the leader.

"The good thing is that in more or less every situation we are there, we are never too far from the top positions."

Unsure of maintaining perfect Sachsenring record

Marquez has an unbeaten record at the Sachsenring stretching back to 2010, as he collected one and two wins in 125cc and Moto2 before triumphing in the past four seasons in MotoGP.

Being the dominant force at the German venue, Marquez jested he did not want the recent resurfacing to take place, and said the work means an extension of his perfect run is by no means assured.

"When they told me they were going to resurface the circuit, I did not want them to, because when you win, you do not want to touch anything!" Marquez quipped.

"But every year is different and especially this one, with the new asphalt. One of my strengths is that is when there is less grip I adapt quickly, while if there is more grip everything is more equal.

"The truth is I don’t know the reason [why I'm so strong at the Sachsenring], I imagine it is because it’s a circuit with a lot of left-handers, they make me feel better."
