Marc Marquez leaped to the top of the timing sheets during today’s free practice ahead of the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix with the reigning MotoGP champion picking up where he left off after the summer break and setting a best lap of 1m 32.882s for the Repsol Honda team following two very different sessions at the revised Indy Motor Speedway.

The track conditions today saw the first practice session presenting a slippery surface for the riders while in the afternoon grip levels increased and Movistar Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo adapted quickly and lies in second place on combined practice times and a set best lap of 1m 33.104s during FP2 while Andrea Iannone sits in third for the Pramac Racing team also setting his best lap of 1m 33.424s lap time at the famous Brickyard this afternoon.

Ducati Team rider Andrea Dovizioso set the fourth best time of 1m 33.432s today ahead of Dani Pedrosa on the second Repsol Honda RC213V with the Spaniard’s best time of 1m 33.493s enough to stay ahead of Stefan Bradl on the LCR Honda and the German rider’s 1m 33.513s lap just .018s ahead of Yonny Hernandez on blistering pace on board the Energy TI Pramac Racing Ducati in seventh place.

Aleix Espargaro set the eight fastest time today for the NGM Forward Racing team and the Spaniard’s lap of 1m 33.587s seeing him .011s ahead of Movistar Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi, who despite being fastest this morning, improved on his personal best time by a second this afternoon but he sits in ninth with a 1m 33.598s lap while the tenth fastest time of 1m 33.621s was set by Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider Bradley Smith.
