The duo clashed on the final lap of the Assen race when Honda rider Marquez dove down the inside of Yamaha's Rossi.
Rossi cut through the chicane and went on to take victory, while an angry Marquez claimed afterwards he had been the moral victor.
Marquez said he was taking the positives from the Assen race, claiming he now knows that what Rossi did is allowed.
"I'd do the same again, but it's true that we have learned something new: that what Valentino did is allowed, and that's good to know for the future," Marquez told Spanish television on Thursday ahead of the German GP.
"There's been a lot of different situations on that corner and this one had never happened before.
"In the end, Valentino during his career has been innovating and coming up with new things which are always helping us learn.
"We'll try not to do it again, but if we get to that point, we know that it can be done.
Marquez insisted that, despite the frequent clashes with Rossi this year, the Italian remains his idol.
"You always have to look at Valentino. He was and he is my idol," he said.
"I'm 22, and he's been in the champion shop for 20 years, so I can learn a lot of things from him, and in Holland he taught us, not only me, but every other rider, something new."
