MotoGP issues revised 2016 calendar

A revised 2016 MotoGP calendar has been issued by the FIM, featuring four date changes compared to the previous draft.

The four Grands Prix that have moved are Germany (now on 17 July), Britain (4 September), Malaysia (20 October) and the Valencia finale (13 November).

Silverstone has undergone the most significant change, having previously been scheduled for 17 July - but this date was made impossible when the most recent Formula 1 calendar had the British Grand Prix at the same venue pencilled in for 10 July, creating a logistical nightmare.

This has been solved by moving the British MotoGP race back to its traditional early September slot, with the Sachsenring round also being pushed back a week from its original date.

Likewise, the Sepang race has been shifted from the start to the end of the Asia-Pacific triple-header, meaning the Malaysian venue will no longer have to host F1 and MotoGP on consecutive weekends.

The knock-on effect of this move is that the season will now conclude at Valencia a week later than planned.
