Pedrosa and Marquez ready to take on Sachsenring in Germany

Dani Pedrosa insists that it is vital he remains in the fight for victories, having finished off the podium last time out at Assen. The Repsol Honda Team rider now heads to Germany, where he has won for the last three years.

In 2012, there was a last-lap challenge from teammate Casey Stoner but this did not prevent Pedrosa from claiming his fourth MotoGP™ class win at the venue. The first had come in 2007, the year before his infamous crash at the first corner.

“This week we head to Germany and I hope we can get a good feeling and have a good weekend,” says Pedrosa, whose fourth place in The Netherlands marked the first time he had finished outside the top three since the season-opener in Qatar.

“The Sachsenring has typically been a good track for me in the past and it's a circuit where I always enjoy racing. It's a short track where you spend a lot of time turning to the left, but the fastest corner is to the right so tyre performance will be key. It's important to keep the momentum and ride my best to keep fighting for race wins.”

Finishing ahead of his main championship rivals in Round 7, Marc Marquez moved back to within one race win of the championship leader. Heading to the eighth event of the campaign, he sits 23 points in arrears of teammate Pedrosa.

“It was a tough and complicated weekend at Assen, but the important thing is that we learned a lot and picked up another podium and some important points,” begins Marquez, who has collected more podium finishes than any other rider so far in 2013.

“Now we head to the Sachsenring - another new circuit for us on the MotoGP machine. We will see how the weather is there, as it can change quite a lot! It will be interesting to see what the circuit is like on this bike because it's one of the smallest circuits on the calendar and I already found it small in Moto2 so I can't imagine how it will be in MotoGP! When we get there, I'll take my time to learn the lines with my team, as we do every week, and try our best for another good result.”

When considering his pair of 250 class successes at the Sachsenring, Pedrosa has won Grands Prix at the circuit on six occasions. Marquez is also a multiple winner, having crossed the finish line first in the 125 race of 2010 as well as in his only two Moto2™ races at the track in 2011 and 2012.
