Pedrosa to decide on MotoGP future “within days”

Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa says he will make a decision on his MotoGP future “within days” following the arm pump problems he suffered during last weekend’s season-opening race at Qatar.

Although HRC boss Livio Suppo has said he expects Pedrosa to race in the next round of the series at Austin, the Spaniard has said that he is unsure whether he will able to continue riding for the team after surgery failed to solve the issue.

“As you now know, I’ve been having problems with my right forearm for a year,” Pedrosa explained on his personal blog. “I even had an operation last year but the problem wasn’t solved.

“In the pre-season I travelled a lot, precisely to try to find a way of solving this problem and to be able to compete this season at 100%. But the weekend in Qatar made me realize it’s not going to be like that.

“We are looking to find a way to solve it. What this GP has made clear to me is that I cannot compete at the top of my abilities.

“I hope I can give you good news soon because I will make a decision in a few days,” he concluded.

If Pedrosa is unable to take the start at Austin, it is expected that HRC test rider Hiroshi Aoyama, who rode an Open class Honda for the Aspar team in 2014, will take his place.
