TEAM SAN CARLO HONDA GRESINI HEAD TO SPAIN FOR 2008 FINALE

Team San Carlo Honda Gresini head for the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia this week for the final round of the MotoGP World Championship. Just one week after racing in Malaysia, Alex De Angelis and Shinya Nakano return to Europe to tackle one of the smallest and tightest tracks on the calendar. Both the San Marino and Japanese riders have won at the Spanish track in the 250cc class, in 2006 and 2000 respectively.

The race is important not just to sign off from the season in positive fashion but also because on the day following the race Gresini Racing's preparations for 2009 will already begin, with the first test of the off-season set to take place on the 27th and 28th October.

#15 ALEX DE ANGELIS

"At the start of my career I could never get to grips with Valencia, but over the last few years the situation has changed and I have been strong there, even winning the 250cc race in 2006. It is a circuit where a strong engine is not fundamental, because there are few places where you hit high speeds, and it is similar to the tracks where we have done well this year, so I'm confident. I'd like to end the season in positive fashion and give my technical staff some nice memories to take with them because there will be some changes over the winter and I'll be working with new people next year."

#56 SHINYA NAKANO

"This season has gone by so fast and Sunday is the final race already! Valencia is a very unique place and I like it a lot. Tyre choice will be crucial because of the temperatures, which probably won't be too high. In any case after two good races in Australia and Malaysia my confidence is high and I'm convinced I can end the season with another good result. I also have chance to move up a few positions in the championship so I'll give maximum effort until the end."

FAUSTO GRESINI -- TEAM MANAGER

"Even though the season is almost over the final round is still important. We're optimistic about coming here to Valencia because both our riders like the track and on paper it should suit the characteristics of our bike. Recently Shinya has shown a good level of competitiveness, whilst for Alex this race is definitely a good opportunity for him to bounce back from some disappointing results. On Monday we already start planning for 2009, with our first test session of the new campaign. It will be an important test because everybody will be on Bridgestone tyres for the first time so it will be interesting to take to the track with the single tyre rule effectively in place."

RACE FACTS

The race at Valencia is the third this season to take place on Spanish soil, following Jerez and Barcelona. The Ricardo Tormo circuit welcomes the World Championship for the tenth time, having first played host to the Grand Prix of Valencia in 1999. Gresini Racing celebrated 250cc victory in 2001 with Daijiro Kato and won the MotoGP race in 2005 with Marco Melandri.
