WHITLOCK NINTH AT RIVERSIDE

ANTIGONISH, NS (Sunday Sept. 20, 2009): After a daylong rain delay, Dave Whitlock and his No. 39 Dickies/NMT/Prostate Cancer Canada/POINTTS Dodge Avenger team headed to the popular Riverside Speedway where they posted a ninth place finish.

The Whitlock Motorsports team were put to the test early in the day on Sunday as on the last lap of practice they lost a motor. They quickly went to work and the car was running and ready for time trials a short time later. With no laps on the motor and limited practice the No.39 Dickies driver qualified 16th.

At the drop of the green Whitlock settled into line. He reported to his crew that the car was very lose and they would need to make some adjustments on their first pit stop. At lap 87 the caution flew and Whitlock came to the attention of his crew for the adjustment and fuel. The changes worked and Whitlock was much happier with the car. During the long green flag runs however they had lost a couple of laps to the leaders. With the car running better the No. 39 team were hoping for a few cautions but the second half of the race went green all the way to the end and they were unable to receive a free pass to help get them back to the front. "Although we didn't get the finish we were looking for, we battled through some adversity and still managed a ninth place finish. We encountered some brake issues during the race and had to contend with that through the long green runs. After having engine issues in our last practice session, my crew did an awesome job, getting a new power plant installed in just over a hour and a half, and got the Dickies Dodge back on the track for qualifying!"

Next up will be the final event in the 2009 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and for Dave Whitlock. Just a week before the season started Whitlock made the announcement that he would retire from racing at the end of the 2009 season. The Z-Line Design 250 will take place at Kawartha Speedway Saturday Sept. 26th. For more in
