THOMSON WINS AT RIVERSIDE, TIGHTENS TITLE CHASE

ANTIGONISH, Nova Scotia (Sept. 23, 2008) -- Don Thomson Jr. didn't lead the most laps in the Atlantic Dodge Dealers 300, but he led the last two and that was enough to win the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race at Riverside International Speedway.

Thomson won his second race of the 2008 season, besting a field of 23 starters. He averaged 53.694 mph for the 300-lap chase around the .33-mile oval.

Goodyear is the official tire provider for the Series. The 2008 season marks a continuation of the tiremaker's long association with Canada's top stock car racing program.

Thomson led a total of 52 laps. J.R. Fitzpatrick, who led the most laps (85), finished second, just .2 seconds behind the winner. Ron Beauchamp Jr. was third, followed by Mark Dilley and Dave Whitlock.

Fitzpatrick won the pole with a lap averaging 80.268 mph.

Points leader Scott Steckly finished in 13th place, 13 laps behind the winner. Thomson, who is second in the standings, now trails Steckly by only 67 points.
