HAMILTON, ONTARIO (September 5, 2008) -- When the Fastline Motorsports Team pulls into Barrie Speedway for the running of the Pizza Pizza 300 Saturday night, regular team driver Jim Lapcevich will not be behind the wheel of the Tim Hortons Chevy Monte Carlo.

Jim's brother Jeff Lapcevich will be driving in the race, the 11th in the 13-race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series for 2008.

"I've raced there a few times," said Lapcevich, whose road racing background led to several road course wins in CASCAR Super Series competition. "I haven't run on an oval since Cayuga last year."

Lapcevich has raced twice in the series this year. He started 16th in the Mosport road course event and finished 12th and placed sixth in the road course circuit of Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.

He will be driving his brother's car in the Barrie race, a car that is setup different from his own for his first oval track race this year.

"The cars may look similar, but are quite different," commented Lapcevich. "And with virtually no testing time before the race, it should be interesting."

The driver from Caistor Center added he enjoys racing on the third-mile Barrie oval, and knows what is expected to be successful at the track.

"I like going there, the place is always jammed," he said. "It's a small track and a lot can happen really fast. The best way to race there is to stay up on the wheel and stay clean."

The 300-lap race is scheduled to begin at 8:00 pm Saturday evening.
