DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 29, 2007) --It's back to oval racing for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Sirius Satellite Radio. The road course cars have been put away, for the time being. Now, it's time to tame the bull ring of Barrie (Ontario) Speedway in the Mopar 300.

THE TRACK: Barrie Speedway is a 1/3-mile tri-oval located near the shores of Lake Simcoe north of Toronto. The track opened in 1965 and underwent a complete facelift in late 2004. At that time, the track was expanded from a 1/4-mile oval to its current layout. Also included in that work, was an overall widening of the racing surface along with the addition of a pit road to accommodate longer races. What makes pit road unique at Barrie is that it is located on the backstretch of the track.

THE EVENT: The Mopar 300 is scheduled for a 8:45 p.m. ET start on Sunday, July 1. Joining the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series for this weekend at Barrie Speedway is a full array of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action. This year is Barrie's first season as part of the NASCAR weekly racing series' family of tracks. They are joined in Canada by Autodrome St-Eustache in Quebec and Edmonton International Speedway in Alberta.

IT'S A HOLIDAY WEEKEND!: As part of the Canada Day holiday weekend, Barrie is hosting its annual Promenade Days celebration in the downtown area. The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series will be represented on Saturday afternoon with several cars and drivers on hand.

STUCK ON 14: Doug Brown (No. 10 Haldex/NAPA Dodge) looks to improve fortunes this week in the Mopar 300 after a pair of 14th-place finishes in the season's first two races. To do that, he'll have to navigate the crowded racing surface at Barrie Speedway for 300 laps while avoiding the bad luck and mechanical gremlins which have haunted him thus far in 2007. In the season opener at Cayuga Speedway Park, he suffered damage to his car in an accident before retiring his machine with electrical problems. In the last race on the road course of Mosport International Raceway, he battled a fuel pick-up malfunction.

A FAMILY AFFAIR: The Lapcevich family is all about racing which now covers three generations. Jim Lapcevich will have his No. 25 EMCEA Transport/Tim Hortons/Fastline Motorsports Chevrolet Monte Carlo at Barrie Speedway for the Mopar 300. However, brother, Jeff, will not be in his customary No. 23 Tim Hortons/EMCEA Transport/Fastline Motorsports Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Instead, he will be south of the border in Pennsylvania at the Quarter Midgets of America grooming the third generation of racing Lapcevichs, his son Cayden. Meanwhile, father/grandfather Joe Lapcevich, who began his racing career in the 1960s, plans to attend as much of both events as possible.

Ticket information for the Mopar 300 can be obtained by calling Barrie Speedway at (705) 487-0279 or by logging onto www.barriespeedway.com.
