STECKLY QUALIFIES AND FINISHES THIRD IN TORBRAM 300
BARRIE, ON (Sunday Sept. 13, 2009): Scott Steckly driving the No. 22 Canadian Tire Dodge Avenger qualified third for Saturday's Torbram 300 presented by The Source at Barrie Speedway and went on to finish third later that night.
Steckly who won both NASCAR Canadian Tire Series events on this tight .333 mile oval a year ago was set to make it three in a row when late in the race, two lapped cars got tangled up together in front of him. Steckly was unable to get around them and had to stop on the track until the traffic cleared. NASCAR deemed him to be an involved car so he was sent back to line up at the back of the lead lap cars. With only a handful of laps left in the 300 lap event, Steckly was unable to get back to the front spot but pulled off a third place podium finish. "I am a little disappointed tonight as we had the car to win here," said Steckly after the race. "Twice we got sent to the back when we stopped because of a wreck in front of us so we had to battle traffic all night long. This Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger was great again tonight we just came up a bit short."
Dom Thomson Jr. was able to take advantage of NASCAR's ruling and he held off a hard charging Mark Dilley who finished second. Brad Graham, Jason Hathaway and Kerry Micks all finished on the lead lap in 4th, 5th and 6th.
The next event for the No. 22 Canadian Tire Team is the Komatsu 300 at Riverside Speedway in Antigonish Nova Scotia.
