Cayuga 2000 Speedway and CASCAR announce new promotional agreement: Canada Day Shootout to be "bigger and better".
Komoka, ON -- Cayuga 2000 Speedway and CASCAR announced today that they have completed the signing of the contracts for the three CASCAR events to be held at the legendary track in 2003. In addition, the parties have entered into a co-promotion agreement that begins in January and extends through to the end of the 2003 season.
Cayuga 2000 Speedway and CASCAR will jointly participate in exhibits at the Speedorama Custom Car Show in London, Ontario on March 21st to 23rd, the Speedorama Custom Car Show in Toronto, Ontario on January 24th to 26th, and the Performance World Custom Car and Truck Show in Toronto, Ontario on March 7th to 9th. The two parties will also cooperate on implementing show car appearances and promotional activities throughout South Central Ontario leading up to each of the events.
"Cayuga 2000 Speedway and CASCAR brought race fans the biggest stock car racing event in Canadian history in 2002," stated Cayuga 2000 Speedway president Gary Evans, referring to the Canada Day Shootout, which featured five NASCAR Winston Cup competitors. "We are very excited to work hand-in-hand with CASCAR to make the 2003 Canada Day Shootout even bigger and better. CASCAR is Canada's finest stock car racing series, and Cayuga 2000 Speedway is proud to work closely with Canada's oldest sanctioning body in bringing Canadian race fans the most exciting stock car events possible."
Cayuga 2000 Speedway was home to only one CASCAR event in 2002, the Canada Day Shootout. NASCAR stars will once again be made part of the Canada Day Shootout in 2003, and two more CASCAR events have been added to the 5/8-mile speedway's schedule.
"We have added a 150 lap CASCAR Carquest Sportsman Series race on the Saturday night of the Canada Day Shootout weekend," continued Evans. "We wanted to provide race fans with a full weekend of top-rank stock car racing, and we feel that the addition of the Sportsman race will add a great deal of excitement to the event."
The Saturday night Carquest Sportsman Series race will be one of four mandatory events that competitors must take part in to compete for the Carquest Sportsman Series championship.
The Canada Day Shootout event will take place on June 28th and 29th, and the third CASCAR event will the Super Series season-ending race held on September 27th and 28th. With the second Delaware Speedway event returning to its traditional Labour Day Weekend date on August 29th to 31st, Cayuga 2000 Speedway will hold the honour of hosting the final Super Series race of the 2003 season.
"We are very excited about our expanded relationship with Cayuga 2000 Speedway in 2003," commented Richard Coughlin, CASCAR director of sales and marketing. "We are committed to providing our loyal fans with exciting, fun-filled events, and we are thrilled that Canada's most legendary speedway shares that commitment with us."
"Our co-promotion efforts, combined with new sponsor partnerships that will promote the race events to the mass market across Canada, will do great things to raise the profile of CASCAR in the Canadian market, and in providing our sponsors and fans with excellent value at our race events," continued Coughlin. "CASCAR racing is an exceptional, highly refined product, and we are excited about exposing it to more fans than ever in 2003."
The CASCAR Super Series is Canada's top level of stock car racing, with 12 events held in Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta. Over 150 race teams across the country compete in CASCAR's three series', the Western Series, Carquest Sportsman Series, and the Super Series.
