                 Last-lap incident denies team of first victory

"There's no question we were the car to beat in the final laps"

NELLES CORNERS, ONTARIO (September 1, 2007) -- While Jeff Lapcevich of Fastline Motorsports had a sixth place finish in Saturday's NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, brother and teammate Jim had his first new series win taken away from him on the final lap at Cayuga Speedway.

Jim Lapcevich and Peter Gibbons traded the lead five times in the final 37 laps, but on the final turn of the final lap the two locked bumpers and tangled after getting involved with a slower car, sending both leading cars spinning out of contention. Lapcevich was able to get back on the track, but lost valuable time and his #25 Fastline car finished a disappointing eighth.

"I expected that of Peter (Gibbons). He always runs hard and he wanted the win as much as me," explained a disappointed Jim Lapcevich after the 200-lap race. "We've been running great and that makes two for two podium finishes taken away from us in the last two oval races by other teams."

The EMCEA Transport -- Tim Hortons Monte Carlo with Jim Lapcevich at the controls started 13th, and exchanged the lead with Gibbons the first time at lap 163 of the Subway 200, which set up a dramatic duel to the finish.

"There's no question we were the car to beat in the final laps," he went on. "The team worked hard all day and gave me the late race set-up I needed to close the deal. It's unfortunate it didn't work out the way we had planned, but we did put on a great show the fans."

Derek Lynch took advantage of the last lap crash and won, followed by Andrew Ranger in second, D.J. Kennington in third and Kerry Micks in fourth.

"The EMCEA Transport -- Tim Hortons Chevrolet took a pretty good licking, we'll get it fixed go to Barrie and see if we can't put this thing in the winners circle and put an end to our unfinished business."

Team driver Jeff Lapcevich had a steady run all night after starting 19th in the race that 14 lead changes between 10 drivers and six cautions for 40 laps.

The next event for Team Fastline Motorsports will be race ten in the 12-race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series at Barrie Speedway in Barrie, Ontario on the third-mile tri-oval on September 8-9.
