SIMONE AND THE Rx100 TEAM START SEVENTH AT KAWARTHA

September 25, 2010. Anthony Simone and the #95 Rx100 team began the final event of the 2010 NASCAR Canadian Tire series racing season at Kawartha Speedway near Peterborough, Ontario meeting the challenges they faced from a sluggish practice session with a solid qualifying effort and looked to wrap up the season with their seventh top-ten finish in the last seven oval events. While the team showed tremendous effort throughout the race they would fall just short.

During the afternoon practice session Simone simply wasn't able to get the kind of speed the #95 Rx100 team expected from their car. Following the one hour track session the team huddled and made some significant changes to the set up. "I was locking up the left front tire" explained Simone "We took a look and decided on some changes and they did help for qualifying.

The #95 Rx100 team was very satisfied with their lap around the one third mile oval which was seventh quickest and lined up on the inside of row four to start the 250 lap race. Through the early stages Simone was able to run strong up near the front of the field.

As the laps ticked away once again the handling of the car began to let the driver down. "It's the same thing we faced in the last few races" stated the driver. "We decided that since this was the final race that we needed to be aggressive to try and solve this problem" he added.

During the #95 Rx100 team's scheduled pit stops they would make significant changes to adjust the car for Simone. The bold move seemed to work at first but as the race moved on the car became extremely tight. "I'm glad we tried it" said the driver "but I think we just went a bit too far with the changes. I definitely had my hands full after that but I don't think it cost us any positions in the race" he concluded.

When the checkered flag dropped to end the race and the season Simone finished just outside the top-ten with a twelfth place result. With the points earned from that race he would finish the 2010 NASCAR Canadian Tire season ninth overall. "Considering some of the tough luck we had earlier in the season and also had a couple of mechanical issues knock us out early I think we did very well to finish ninth overall. I'm extremely proud of how hard the whole Rx100 team worked this year and I can't thank them all enough.

The #95 Rx100 team with Anthony Simone would like to thank all the race fans for their tremendous support in 2010 and look forward to competing again in 2011. "We're already discussing how we're going to structure our team for next season and making plans to purchase new cars" said Simone. "Having Donald Meade join us in the ownership group this season has been a real boost for us and I know we're going to be even stronger in 2011" he added.
