Pierre Bourque Does Plenty of Passing at Mosport
Conservative Party Tries Out Motorsports in Canadian Tire Series Event
CONCORD, NC (June 18, 2007) -- Passing on the historic and tricky Mosport road course is always challenging and technical, but also for those reasons it is extremely rewarding. So when Pierre Bourque finished Sunday's NASCAR Canadian Tire Series event at Mosport (Ontario) on Sunday after working his way through the field and passing countless cars over one afternoon of racing, he was one satisfied racecar driver.
Bourque started 22nd in the race, ran as high as fifth, and ended the day with a finish of 13th.
The 22nd-place qualifying run was not much of an indication of the efforts Bourque or the Whitlock Motorsports team. However, it was an indication of bad luck, as Bourque's engine expired on the second lap of the second practice session. It was a bad time for a part to break, since it kept Bourque from logging valuable practice laps in order to make his car better prepared for qualifying.
"Without the practice time that we missed, we fell a little behind," said Bourque. "But the Whitlock Motorsports team got right to work and changed the engine in time for qualifying. They did a great job getting everything back together."
In the race, Bourque did plenty of passing and moved steadily through the field, all the way into the top five, before fading back to 13th at the finish.
"It was a busy and interesting day," said Bourque. "The team worked really hard and we came away with a good result."
Bourque's #29 Dodge sported a new sponsor in the Mosport event, the Canadian Conservative Party joined Bourque's race team, with their distinctive blue "C" logo adorning the hood of his racecar. Bourque will ride with the party sponsorship in two more events this season in addition to his regular line-up of sponsors that include Driving.ca, Canada.com, working.com and DOSE.ca.
Bourque's next race will take place in the NASCAR Busch East Series on June 22nd at New Hampshire International Speedway. He has a variety of Busch East Series, Canadian Tire Series, NASCAR Busch Series and road races planned for throughout the summer.
Race fans will now have a new tool to keep up with Bourque's busy racing schedule. His new website, www.pierrebourque.net has been launched. The site features all kinds of news, results and background information on the Canadian race driver, as well as a number of multimedia goodies for race fans. Be sure to check Bourque's new site out, as well as his primary sponsor's website, Driving.ca.
"I am as passionate about motorsports as my primary sponsor Driving.ca is about motoring. Driving.ca is a fantastic website for people looking to research a new vehicle purchase, learn about the latest industry developments, or follow the very latest in racing. We're both all about passion, which makes Driving.ca and perfect match for me."
