Jim Lapcevich scores second consecutive NASCAR top-ten at Trois-Rivières
Fastline Motorsport driver takes sixth in NASCAR race
Trois-Rivières, Quebec (August 17, 2008) -- According to Jim Lapcevich, his time driving the Tim Hortons Monte Carlo for the Grand-Prix de Trois-Rivières on Sunday was "pretty eventful."
The driver of the Fastline Motorsports team, based in Hamilton, Ontario, clipped the wall early in the 46-lap race. He also spun in some oil, and was down on power.
The race was the ninth on the 13-race 2008 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, and was held on the 1.53-mile temporary road course.
But after starting 15th in the 28-car field, Lapcevich took a solid sixth-place finish, his second top-ten placing in the last two races on the tour.
"Yes, we've had two solid runs in the last two races," he admitted after the race, which was won by Andrew Ranger of Quebec. "But it was a pretty eventful day for me. I hit the wall on lap two and bent the suspension and had problems steering the car the rest of the race. Believe me, it was a hard race."
Lapcevich, who hails from Grimsby, Ontario, noted that if he hadn't clipped the wall early in the event, he would have been right up there with the leaders.
"We had a great car today. It was my mistake early in the race that kept us from scoring higher. But the team has seen some positive results in the past two weeks, and we're enthused and will be ready for the next race."
