Ambrose Among Top Five All-Star Vote Recipients while Weather Wreaked Havoc on Showdown and All-Star Qualifying

CONCORD, N.C. (May 21, 2010) - Marcos Ambrose received some good news today when Sprint announced that he was among the top five vote recipients in the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Fan Vote along with (in alphabetical order) AJ Allmendinger, Jeff Burton, Carl Edwards and Elliott Sadler.

"Being in the top five for the Sprint All-Star Fan vote is the best news I've heard all day," said Ambrose, who was amazed that fans have casted a record 1.1 million votes in this year's NASCAR All-Star Fan Vote. "That's just awesome. We've done a lot of work with promoting the fan vote in Australia and I appreciate everyone that has voted for me in my homeland and here in America. It's such an honor to be in the top five because there are a lot of great drivers eligible for the Sprint All-Star Fan Vote."

Ambrose, who is piloting the No. 47 Cavalia Toyota at Charlotte Motor Speedway, received a bit of bad news when NASCAR was forced to cancel Showdown qualifying due to inclement weather from earlier today. Ambrose occupied fifth place with four cars remaining to qualify when NASCAR finally called it. Now, instead of possibly holding a top five starting position, Ambrose will begin the 40-lap preliminary race in 19th place based on his qualifying draw. David Ragan will start first with Max Papis on the outside. All-Star qualifying was also canceled.

"It's a bummer that we didn't get to finish qualifying because we would have started up front," Ambrose said. "We would love to win the All-Star Fan vote and take the pressure off, but we are prepared to race our way in. We had a good practice session and improved the car's handling. We'll take what we learned today and apply it to next weekend for the Coca-Cola 600."

More information on the Sprint All-Star Fan Vote provided by Sprint:

Voting will continue until one hour prior to the start of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on Saturday, May 22, at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Fans can cast votes for their favorite eligible drivers using the NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile application, by visiting NASCAR.com or at the Sprint Experience, located in the midway at every NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event.

As an incentive for Sprint customers, every wireless vote submitted from a Sprint or Nextel device counts double in the driver standings.

The eligible driver accumulating the most votes, who also finishes the Sprint Showdown qualifying race, will earn a spot in the prestigious All-Star field. The Sprint Fan Vote winner will be announced immediately following the completion of the Sprint Showdown.

In addition to voting, fans can also use the NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile application to view the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race in its entirety on Sprint devices.

Tune in at 7 p.m. EDT on Saturday, May 22, to SPEED for coverage of this year's NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race. Sprint customers can enjoy coverage on their capable Sprint phones via NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile. To download the new NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile, which is free with any data plan, Sprint customers should text "NASCAR" to 7777 (Standard text messaging and data rates apply). Tickets for the event start at $39 and are available at www.charlottemotorspeedway.com <www.charlottemotorspeedway.com/> or by calling 800-455-FANS.
