STATESVILLE, N.C-- Reed Sorenson will donate his winnings to charity if fans vote him into Saturday night's All-Star Challenge. The No. 43 McDonald's McCafe Dodge driver plans to transfer into the All-Star Challenge by finishing first or second in the Showdown. But if he doesn't, Sorenson will give his portion of the winnings to Ronald McDonald House Charities if he transfers into the race through the fan vote.

REED SORENSON ON HIS DONATION- "The fan vote is pretty important as Kasey proved last year. If I'm fortunate enough to transfer in through the fan vote then I'll gladly give my prize money to char ity. The Ronald McDonald House Charities do some great work with kids and families. I'm fortunate to do what I love in life and I think giving back is important. If the fans give me a way into the All-Star race then I don't have a problem giving that money to people doing a lot of good in the world."

SORENSON ON THE WEEKEND- "I love what Sprint has done with the Showdown and the All-Star Challenge. It's a pretty simple strategy. You just go out there and either win or finish second. I'm pretty confident we can do that. We've started to come around the last four weeks and I feel like we have a great shot Saturday night to get into the Challenge. Once you get in, anything can happen. I think it is a lot more relaxed of a weekend until the green flag drops then its pretty much go like heck. That's probably why its so popular with the fans."

RICHARD PETTY- "I think this is a pretty neat deal they got here in Charlotte. Its about the fans. Eve rybody knows what the economy is like right now so anything we can do to entertain the people that have made NASCAR so popular--we need to do. As a car owner I'm not thrilled about tearing up a car in a 40-lap race but if we put on a good show for the customers and they keep following our sport then it's the right thing for NASCAR to keep doing. Sprint has promoted it and tweaked the rules to where I think this year could be as good as any race we have seen. I just hope we can get Reed, AJ and Elliott in the All-Star Challenge race with Kasey. That will make my night."

CREW CHIEF MIKE SHIPLETT- "Of course our plan is to win the Sprint Showdown or at least trans fer into the All-Star Challenge. But with the testing ban this season it is important we use the time we get on Friday and Saturday to learn what our car likes and dislikes on the 1.5-mile tracks. We will try a few shock and spring packages that-- in the perfect world--we will hit on and use in the 600 and maybe at similar tracks the rest of the season. We plan to bring another car for the 600, but you never know what we might do if Reed really likes this car."
