No. 12 Penske Dodge Charger News and Notes

* This Week's Charger... The No. 12 Penske Dodge team will race chassis PRS 595 during Sunday's 500-mile event. PRS 595 is the same car that ran in last weekend's event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The car qualified in the 11th spot and took the checkered flag in the 18th position.

* Moving on Up... With Sunday's top-20 finish, Stremme and the No.12 Penske Dodge Charger team moved up one spot to 23rd in the NASCAR Cup Series driver point standings. Stremme sits a mere 58 points out of 10th place in the rankings.

* Press Announcement... Stremme, along with his teammates Kurt Busch, Sam Hornish Jr., and team owner Roger Penske, will be a part of a special Penske Racing press announcement on Sunday, March 8 at the infield media center at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The announcement will begin at 10:45 am in the press conference room.

* Come and See Me... Stremme will be signing autographs at the Penske Racing souvenir trailer on Saturday, March 7 beginning at 9:30 am EST. The Penske Racing trailer is located along the front stretch at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

* Truck Challenger Winner... Rick Johnson, driver of the No. 12 Penske Dodge Charger transporter, won the first round of The Freightliner Trucks Run SmartSM Hauler Challenge. The Challenge is a series of five competitions run at NASCAR tracks before the event. NASCAR hauler drivers demonstrate their skills behind the wheel of a Freightliner Coronado. Drivers maneuver through an obstacle course and test skills such as parallel parking and backing up around curves. After the first event at Las Vegas, only 16 haulers remain in the competition. Each subsequent event cuts the number of competitors in half until the final two drivers face off for the title at Texas Motor Speedway in November.

David Stremme on driving at Atlanta Motor Speedway

"I am really looking forward to this weekend. Atlanta is a track I have always enjoyed and a place where I have run really well. We are taking the same car we raced in Las Vegas. We did not get the finish we deserved out there and are looking for redemption this weekend. Atlanta Motor Speedway is a really fast track where you carry a lot of speed into the corners. You can run on both the top and the bottom which is a racer's dream. I know (crew chief) Roy [McCauley] has done his homework and we are going with a package we feel will be strong right off the truck. We know the first five races are pivotal in keeping us up in the points and know we can't make any mistakes. So far, we have done our job, but know there is room for improvement. Roy and I are really starting to gel and we are getting better each week."
