ELLIOTT SADLER, No. 38 M&M's Taurus (qualified 6th) --
"It was pretty hard to find the line, I guess because it's so dark and you're not used to running here like that. It was hard to find the line going into three. The track had a lot of grip to it. It made the car a lot looser than what I was expecting, I think, because the front end's gripping so much better. All in all that was a decent lap. I think that'll be in the top 10 to 15 and give us a good starting spot."
YOU DIDN'T MAKE A LOT OF LAPS IN PRACTICE. ARE YOU PRETTY CONFIDENT WITH THIS CAR? "Yeah. It's a great, great race car. It's new-style race car, one like we might be running here next year. I'm really happy with the way the guys prepared it. I'm really happy with the motor situation that Doug gave me. So, we're in good shape."
TODD BODINE, No. 54 National Guard Taurus (qualified 7th) --
"I'm a little disappointed with it. The car was actually tight off of both corners, and I actually had to lift off off of four a little bit to keep from hitting the wall. But the car was fast enough, carrying enough speed that it didn't hurt us that bad and still got a good time. I think we probably could've beat Elliott if we didn't push, but that's racin', that's the way it goes. Hopefully, that'll be a top-10 run."
JEFF BURTON, No. 99 Citgo Taurus (qualified 38th) --
"It's been a long day. These big tracks have just been a struggle for us. We're working real hard trying to get it better, and we have hit a roadblock, and we don't seem to be able to make it better. So we try a whole bunch of crazy stuff, and that doesn't work, and we try standard stuff and that doesn't work, and I don't know. I can't go around there as fast as I need to."
DALE JARRETT, No. 88 The UPS Store Taurus (qualified 31st) -- ON QUALIFYING AT ATLANTA AT NIGHT.
"It's got a lot of grip, it's fast. But we haven't been very fast since we've been here. Unfortunately, we're just struggling once again."
ON TODAY'S ANNOUNCEMENT THAT HIS CONTRACT HAS BEEN RENEWED THROUGH 2006. "We've had an agreement, it's just a matter of putting it on paper where everybody else believes it, I guess. I'm happy. I'm looking forward to spending the next three years right here with this team that we helped get started. So, I'm looking forward to that."
KURT BUSCH, No. 97 Rubbermaid/Sharpie Taurus (qualified 17th) --
"A bit dissatisfied with the grip that the track had, I thought that it would have more at night. But it seemed like since the temperature was down from the time before when we were out, it just didn't have as much grip as what it normally should have. So, we ran the same exact time and that was just due to heating up the fluids the right way. So, if we backed up our time from practice that's fine, but you got to pick up two-tenths here in Winston Cup."
MATT KENSETH, No. 17 DeWalt Power Tools Taurus (qualified 37th) --
"It was just all over the place. It felt like we had 100-lap tires on it. It was just terrible."
RICKY RUDD, No. 21 U.S. Air Force/Motorcraft Taurus (qualified 42nd) --
"We've been off since we've been here. This is the car that we had a Charlotte and we thought we learned something with it at Charlotte, but evidently we didn't bring the right car, is the only thing I can figure out."
BOBBY HAMILTON, Jr., No. 35 Marines/Wawa Taurus (qualified 36th) -- HAVING QUALIFIED SIXTH FOR THE BUSCH RACE EARLIER, DOES THIS COMPLETE A PRETTY GOOD DAY FOR YOU?
"Yeah, it does. We got tight, tight. We were loose on stickers, trying to adjust and this is all new to us, so if we're in the show, it's great. Overall, just the opportunity to be on this side, we're happy with it."
