Atlanta II: Front Row Racing qualifying report

There are some new faces and new crew chief match-ups within Front Row Motorsports this week, but the team stayed consistent with its qualifying result by putting all three entries into the race.

On a hot Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway, David Gilliland had a fast Taco Bell Ford in practice, finishing the second session 11th quickest. The car loosened up in qualifying to put Gilliland 36th on the starting grid. Travis Kvapil qualified the Long John Silver's Ford 41st after battling a tight car throughout the day. And in his first race weekend with Front Row, Dave Blaney earned the 37th starting position by qualifying the A&W All American Food Ford on speed.

Denny Hamlin took his first pole of the 2010 season with a speed of 187.380 miles per an hour and a lap time of 29.587. Ryan Newman will start on the outside pole. Jason Leffler, Landon Cassill, Scott Riggs and Todd Bodine did not make the race.

Travis Kvapil Comments from Long John Silver's Team Driver Travis Kvapil after qualifying:

"We have really been fighting our Long John Silver's Ford today.

It's probably as far off as we've been in a long time getting to the race track, but we kept zeroing in on it. Right towards the end of practice we got it a lot better. We still have a little ways to go, but for qualifying we made a couple big adjustments and learned from that. We definitely have some more adjusting to do for the race tomorrow night, but we're a lot closer than how we started the weekend."

Comments from Taco Bell Ford Team Driver David Gilliland after qualifying:

"We were really loose on our qualifying run. We were hoping to qualify a little better than that. But the car was really good in practice. Peter Sospenzo and the team did a great job making the Taco Bell Ford better throughout the day. It's pretty good in race trim, so I think we'll be in good shape for the race tomorrow."

Dave Blaney Comments from A&W All American Food Ford Team Driver Dave Blaney after qualifying:

"I was happy with how we did today. I think we made great progress in race mode and we got our qualifying laps better and better in practice. Our qualifying lap wasn't great but it was safe and plenty solid to get in, so I'm happy with it."
