Logano Looking to Continue Moving Forward at Atlanta Motor Speedway

HAMPTON, Ga. (August 25, 2009) -- Throughout his rookie season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the second time around has yielded good things for Joey Logano.

That could bode well Logano when the green flag drops at the Pep Boys Auto 500 on Sept. 6 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Logano has raced for the second time at six different tracks so far this season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. At five of those tracks, he posted a better finish than he did in his debut at that racetrack. Atlanta Motor Speedway will be Logano's seventh track that he will be competing in the Sprint Cup Series for a second time when he races there.

"This is what I was hoping would happen at the beginning of the season and it seems like that plan is working out right now as far as the second time around these places," said Logano, who cut his teeth racing in Atlanta Motor Speedway's Thursday Thunder short track series. "We'll keep that going and just keep riding some momentum and try to build some more and get some better, solid finishes to keep moving up in points."

Logano will look to continue improving at the Pep Boys Auto 500 on Sept. 6 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Coming off a 30th-place showing in March's Kobalt Tools 500 at Atlanta, Logano will seek a superior finish in the track's first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series night race.

"I think it definitely helps," Logano said of racing at a track for the second time. "If you look at where we were at the beginning of the year, it's night and day."

Logano will likely be hoping for results similar to races at Michigan International Speedway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Logano finished 25th in the June race earlier this year at Michigan and finished seventh there earlier this month. At New Hampshire, Logano finished 32nd last September but picked up his first career Sprint Cup Series win at the track earlier this year.

"I think it's going to be about like the rest of the tracks that we have gone to for the second time this season," Logano said of Atlanta Motor Speedway. "That was a place that I struggled big time so I think the second time is going to be better again."

History will be made this September during the Pep Boys Auto 500 on September 6 as Atlanta Motor Speedway hosts its first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series night race.
