Greg Biffle took the victory in the Kansas 400 while Jimmie Johnson took over the Chase points lead, finishing second. Kevin Harvick was third. The third round in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chase for the Cup was the first time that those aiming for this year's championship were in the top three.

"Once we got our car adjusted we were off and set sail," smiled Biffle. "The thing was really fast. I didn't think even if there were more cautions that they would catch us. We had such a great car today and I couldn't be any prouder of my 3M Ford team today and the Pit Bulls."

Biffle now has 16 Cup career wins and his second one this year. The Roush Fenway Racing Ford driver easily held off his rivals in the closing laps to take the victory and admitted, "I was even saving a little bit out there at the end too. I knew the caution was going to come out and I would need some tire to race these guys." Biffle was in the hunt throughout the race, leading 60 of the 267 laps. He now holds eighth in the points.

Johnson seems to come alive during the Chase and while the Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet driver never led a lap, he finished second to now lead Denny Hamlin by eight points. Hamlin ended in 12th position.

"Just a long-fought performance today. Relieved that the checkered fell when it did and we were running second," said Johnson. "Honestly, I drove 400 miles with my tong hanging out just sawing at the wheel trying to get everything I could. Very pleased to have walked that fine line and didn't make any mistakes. My crew did the same. Chad called a great race. We needed all those things to work together in order to get a good finish and we did that."

Harvick was one of the 12 drivers to lead at least 1 lap, he had 16. Harvick has his Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet were one of the top runners today and they leave here, 22 points adrift of Hamlin in the Chase.

"The car was good all weekend," said Harvick. "I've got to thank all my guys on the Shell/Pennzoil Chevrolet. They did a great job. Track position is pretty important and it just took a little longer than we needed to to get back up through traffic again after our pit stop. So it was just a good day. The car was fast all weekend and we had a solid top-three run and I feel good about next week too."

Tony Stewart in his Stewart-Haas Chevrolet ended with the extra bonus points for leading the most laps -- 76 in all -- with a fourth-place finish.
