Winning on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit is not an easy task. With top-five practice speeds all weekend and a solid fifth place qualifying effort at Bristol Motor Speedway, Morgan-McClure Motorsports was poised for their first win since April 1998 in Martinsville. Hoping to add win number 15 to the record books for Abingdon, Va.-based team, Mike Skinner, driver of the No. 4 Kodak MAX Film Monte Carlo was optimistic about gaining his first Winston Cup victory.

The Kodak MAX Film Chevrolet competed in the top-five of the Food City 500 until lap 83 when it was brought into the pits for a yellow-flag pit stop. In an unfortunate mishap, a front lugnut fell off during the four tire change and dropped the team back to 21st for the restart on lap 88.

Skinner piloted the machine back up to 13th when a caution flag waved on lap 157. NASCAR decided to penalize the team for exiting pit road too fast following a pit stop on lap 160. On the restart at lap 165, Skinner had to start at the tailend of the longest line, which placed him in 31st spot.

By lap 380 of the 500 lap event, the hometown team had dodged the fender bending and worked back into 11th. However, as the race concluded, Skinner fought a loose race car and finished in 23rd.

The NASCAR Winston Cup Series has an off weekend next week for Easter. Mike Skinner and his wife, Angela, anticipate having a "vacation at home".

Larry McClure, owner of the No. 4 KODAK MAX Film Monte Carlo, quotes: "We are optimistic. We are faced with circumstances each week which seem to keep us from winning. Things are in place for this team to win again. Skinner wants his first win and we want to gain a few more for us.

"Maybe our runs the past few weeks have opened eyes that we are not buried in a ditch yet. This team is no where near having dirt thrown over us and giving up. We are going to be there in contention for a win each week real soon. I believe this past weekend proves it. "Texas was our best run last year. We're hoping it will be the same this go around."

Mike Skinner quotes: "We had a good run going. It was a tough day out there with all of the beating and banging going on. Once we worked our way back towards the front after the pit stop problem, NASCAR penalized us. I still don't see how they got us for going to fast exiting pit road. It's there rodeo."

"We just need to keep building on what we've been working on. We had the best happy hour and qualifying effort since we started this deal. The guys are making their changes faster, we're gaining as a race team.

"I'm looking forward to a weekend off. Angie and I are going to enjoy some time at home."
