Brooklyn II: Ward Burton preview

"Earlier this year at Michigan, we qualified fifth and were running in the eighth position when we suffered a motor failure. We've done a lot of work since then to make sure the motor will be able to go the distance this time. We've had some opportunities to have some really good runs at Michigan in the past, but haven't been able to capitalize on it. I really love the track because there are so many lines to choose from to run because the track is so wide. Hopefully, with everything we've learned about our aerodynamic program and the motor program, we should be able to be up front at the end this weekend."

EQUIPMENT: The CAT race team is taking a car to Michigan that competed earlier this year at Chicago, Michigan and The Winston.

CAT VISIT: On Thursday, August 16th, Burton, Bill Davis and General Manager, Mike Brown will make a visit to Peoria, IL to visit Caterpillar's Mapleton Foundry where they will tour where the CAT engine blocks are made. The trio will present a large, framed photo from their recent Loudon win, which was the first race a CAT engine block was used in NASCAR competition. From there, they will travel to the Peoria Chiefs baseball game where Burton will throw out the first pitch after signing autographs from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. for the general public at the stadium.

TEAM NEWS:
· The Caterpillar team tested earlier this week at Daytona International Speedway for NASCAR to test rear spoiler packages. The CAT team is one of 12 to 15 NASCAR Winston Cup teams to participate in the test. "The goal is to make the superspeedway cars lift in the corners, where handling would become an issue," said crew chief, Tommy Baldwin.

· Car owners, Bill and Gail Davis, traveled directly from Watkins Glen, NY to Brooklyn, MI on their motorcycles. The Davis' are avid riders and rode with fellow friends and bike enthusiasts, Steve Park, Matt Yocum and David Hyatt.
