Buckshot Jones / Track Notes North Carolina Speedway "We tested here in January and felt good about our car when we left. We seemed to qualify well here in the Busch cars and our finishes were consistent, so I hope I can use that to my advantage."-Buckshot Jones, driver of the No. 00 Crown Fiber Pontiac
The No. 00 Buckshot Racing Pontiac will be sponsored by Crown Fiber Communications for the Dura-Lube / Big Kmart 400. Billy Jones, Buckshot's father and team owner, owns Crown Fiber Communications. The team is still actively seeking primary sponsorship for the 1999 season.
Rockingham Quotes: "The line that they drive in the Winston Cup race is a lot higher than what we drove in the Busch car, so that will be something I will need to get adjusted to. Tire wear is also a big factor at this track, so getting the car to handle well will be the key to being successful."
Outlook on Season: "We can't harp on what happened last week in Daytona. It was really upsetting for the team and myself because we worked so hard that entire week. We're a new team and it's going to be a rough road the first part of the season because we don't have anything to fall back on or any setups to use for the car. Everything is so much more technical in Winston Cup and letting just one thing slide will prevent you from making the race.
"We're not where we want to be right now, especially being a contender for rookie of the year, but we need to look ahead. Everything we do, whether it is right or wrong, we are gaining experience and we are progressing."
