"After all that has happened, it will be good to get back to the race
track this weekend. I know that just being around the track and being
with my team was really good for me after my father's death, so I
hope that it has the same positive impact for everyone else this week:
the team members, the fans I think it does have a healing effect to
get back to what we have to do, and I'm sure it will be good for the
race fans to have a race to watch on Sunday.
"It really didn't feel like a weekend off (when the race at Loudon was postponed last week due to the terrorist attacks), because you really couldn't relax. I was like everyone else, watching the news coverage and just staying glued to the television. I think the ones that benefited from the quiet weekend were the guys on the crew. They were able to spend some time with their families or their girlfriends and that's always a positive thing with the insane hours they work week after week after week."
In addition to two victories at Dover in the Busch Series, Dale Jr. and the Bud team have led two of the three Winston Cup races they have entered at the high-banked "Monster Mile." The team finished third at Dover in June.
Anheuser-Busch Helps Relief Effort
Anheuser-Busch, brewer of Budweiser for 125 years, has been very active
in helping the recovery efforts from last week's terrorist attacks.
Here are a few of the relief-related programs in place at A-B:
--- The Anheuser-Busch Foundation has donated $1 million to the
American Red Cross in Greater New York for relief efforts to aid victims
in the NY metropolitan area.
--- Donated almost 10,000 cases of canned water to aid the victims
and rescue workers in New York City (the Salvation Army and American Red
Cross are distributing the water);
--- Anheuser-Busch has encouraged employees to donate blood at Red
Cross facilities across the country;
--- Also, Anheuser-Busch is currently involved in efforts to
generate millions of dollars through company and wholesale contributions
to assist with the rescue efforts. ^_
Bud Pole Qualifying: Bud Pole qualifying is scheduled to take place Friday afternoon at 1:30 pm, and can be seen on the CNN/SI cable sports network.
What to Watch The Winston Cup Series returns to action after a heart-wrenching week off. Simply getting back on track and completing a safe race weekend for the drivers, teams and fans will be a victory for the entire sport.
