Notes: Both the NASCAR Nextel Cup and Busch Series will run the same tire codes this weekend . . . this is the third straight NASCAR Nextel Cup race to which Goodyear has brought this combination of left- and right-side tires to Darlington . . . this is the only track at which Nextel Cup teams will run this specific tire set-up this season . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in their tires at Darlington . . . air pressure in those liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
Goodyear Quote -- Mark Keto, Lead Engineer, Stock Car Racing: "We decided to bring the exact same tire codes to Darlington this year, which is one of only a handful of tracks that is true of. Despite NASCAR's new aero rules package, the rough track surface at Darlington, which is well known to all teams and drivers, is the overwhelming characteristic that influenced our decision. As always, we will have high tire wear at Darlington due to the abrasive surface. Give-up will be up around two seconds per lap over the course of a full fuel run, though the tires will perform well overall."
