Busch faults Logano for "aggressive mistake" on last lap

Kurt Busch and his crew chief were none-too-pleased with Joey Logano’s last-lap move that sent Busch for a spin before the finish of Saturday night’s race at Daytona International Speedway.

After giving his Team Penske teammate Brad Keselowski a push on a restart with two of 160 laps remaining that helped him capture the victory, Logano spent the final lap racing for position with Kyle and Kurt Busch.

Logano ended up making contact with Kurt, sending his No. 41 for spin and out of contention for a good finish.

“I hate that I got into Kurt there at the end racing to the line. I had a run to turn up underneath him and when you do that, the cars get free and then I was there and he tried to catch it and I was there again,” Logano said after the race.

“It is a product of this racing, but I hate that it happened.”

Busch called Logano’s move an “aggressive mistake.”

“I don’t know where Logano wanted to go. He was going to go from fifth to first? There's not a chance that he had to win it,” Busch said.

“We positioned ourselves to be the car to get a run off the bottom (lane). And it just didn't work out with him trying to drive straight through us.”

Logano ended up finishing fourth and Busch 23rd.

Busch’s crew chief, Tony Gibson, summed up his thoughts more succinctly on Twitter after the race:
