Truex May Clinch This Weekend: Martin Truex, Jr. needs 30 points to clinch his first career Busch series title Saturday at Darlington Raceway.

All Truex needs to do is leave Darlington leading by 191 points or more and he becomes the first driver to win in his first full year of racing since his team owner Dale Earnhardt, Jr. did it in 1998.

"We are glad to be here, it's a real honor for me to be running this Wrangler car," said Truex. "The car was good in practice this morning and we look forward to the race. We want to do what we did all year and run strong and have a good result and maybe clinch the title."

Even if Kyle Busch can't make any gains on Truex, he has had an exceptional season. Thus far, he has broken three rookie records (most poles, most laps led and most points earned) and if he finishes second in points it will be the highest rookie finish in series history.

"We look forward to this weekend," said Busch. "We sat on the pole here in the spring. We look forward to going out there and gaining some championship points and trying to chase down Martin (Truex)."

Currently, Truex leads by Busch by 161 points. Truex finished fourth here in the spring race and Busch 17th.

In other Busch series news, Unilever Foods Division and Evernham Motorsports announced today that Paul Wolfe has been named as the primary driver of the No. 6 Hungry Drivers Dodge for the 2005 NASCAR Busch Series season.

Wolfe will drive in a majority of the companion races on the Busch/Cup schedule and compete for rookie of the year honors.

NASCAR makes it official: After weeks of speculation NASCAR finally has lifted its ban on distilled spirits in the NEXTEL Cup series. Upon the revision, Roush Racing announced that Crown Royal will sponsor the No. 99 Ford of Carl Edwards next season.

Richard Childress Racing is expected to announce at Miami-Homestead Speedway next weekend that Jack Daniels will become the official sponsor of the No. 30 Chevrolet possibly with Dave Blaney in the seat with Philippe Lopez as crew chief.

Stoddard out at BDR: Bill Davis Racing confirmed that Derrike Finley has been named interim crew chief on the No. 22 Dodge of Scott Wimmer. Former crew chief Frankie Stoddard has been released from his duties with the team.

Rain impedes Friday activity at 'the lady in black': Intermittent rain showers peppered the track all morning at Darlington Raceway. Delaying Busch and Cup practices and interrupting first practice for Cup teams twice with red flags for weather.

Ryan Newman had posted the quickest time of the session before drizzle once again covered the racing surface.
