Harvick in Trucks: In addition to his normal double duty of running the ACDelco and the GM Goodwrench Service Plus Chevrolets, Harvick will be competing in his first NASCAR Truck Series event this coming Thursday evening at Richmond. It is his first Truck start since October of 1999 when he finished 15th at California. It is his first Truck start at Richmond since September 9th of '99.
* In competing in the Truck race this weekend, Harvick will be the first NASCAR driver since Elliott Sadler last year to compete in all three races at Richmond, NASCAR Trucks, Busch Series and Winston Cup.
* Harvick will be driving the No. 6 truck, which he co-owns with former NASCAR Truck standout, Rick Carelli on Thursday night.
HARVICK ON RICHMOND: "Richmond is really cool. The fast way to get around the place is on the bottom. You try to keep your car running down there, but it depends on what the sealer does. If it moves up high, if the groove moves up the racetrack, you move with it to get better grip."
"I've never won at Richmond, but I enjoy running there. There's something about running under the lights. It seems like your senses are heightened. We've all come from running under the lights on a Saturday night. Everything looks pretty cool, the colors, the sparks, the exhaust flames."
"The Winston Cup race is a long race. You have to keep all four fenders on the car because there, the aero (dynamics) does matter. You really try to settle into a rhythm, but you have to be ready for anything because things happen quickly."
Points
BUSCH-Harvick lost 29 points to Jason Keller from his 345-point lead after Bristol. His lead now stands at 316 points over Keller. Harvick has led the Busch points after 19 of the 25 races so far this year including the last 11 races since he reclaimed the top position after Dover in June. He has never dropped lower than third.
WINSTON CUP - Harvick currently sits ninth in the Winston Cup point standings. He is just five points behind eighth place Rusty Wallace and 155 points behind fifth place Tony Stewart. He is still leading the Rookie of the Year standings over Kurt Busch, 269 to 213 points.
Kevin Harvick will be appearing on QVC on Thursday night following the NASCAR Truck race, which starts at 8:00 p.m. EDT.
Harvick will be competing in the GM Goodwrench Service Plus Chevrolet featuring the Tasmanian Devil paint scheme on a predominantly silver car during the Chevrolet Monte Carlo 400 with Loney Tunes on Saturday night.
Weekend of Seconds -
This weekend marks the second Winston Cup start for Harvick at Richmond
This is the second time TAZ has been on the GM Goodwrench Service Plus Chevrolet, the first time was during the 2000 Daytona 500 with Dale Earnhardt as part of the introduction of the 2000 Monte Carlo to NASCAR Winston Cup racing.
This is the second special paint scheme that Harvick has run on the No. 29 car in his short Winston Cup career. The first special paint scheme was run at the Winston in May at Charlotte when Harvick piloted the No. 29 GM Goodwrench/American Online Chevrolet.
Dale Earnhardt was second to Jeff Gordon in this race last year, which was shrouded in controversy because it was a Winston No-Bull event and both Gordon and Earnhardt were eligible for the bonus. Gordon was penalized for an illegal manifold and fined, but was not stripped of the win. His team retained the bonus.
