Hank Parker Jr. scheduled to drive at Rockingham for Evernham Motorsports.

STATESVILLE, N.C., (October 19, 2002) -- Hank Parker, Jr. is scheduled to drive the NO. 91 Dodge Intrepid R/T for Evernham Motorsports in the Winston Cup events at North Carolina Speedway November 1-3. Parker, who currently drives the No. 36 GNC Live Well Dodge Intrepid R/T in the NASCAR Busch Series, is scheduled to compete in both series that weekend. Parker will run the No. 91 Dodge Intrepid R/T as part of Evernham Motorsports ongoing commitment to research and development for Dodge.

"We feel Hank deserved a shot at driving this car for us," said Ray Evernham, President and CEO of Evernham Motorsports. "He gave Dodge their first victory in the Busch Series and we feel he deserved to be rewarded for his loyalty to the Dodge program."

Sammy Johns, research and development coordinator for Evernham Motorsports, will serve as crew chief for the team. The pit crew will be made up of backup pit crew members for Evernham Motorsports. Dick Trickle attempted to qualify the No. 91 Dodge Intrepid R/T at Talladega in April.

HANK PARKER JR. ON DRIVING AT ROCKINGHAM:

"I want to thank Ray, everyone at Evernham Motorsports and everyone associated with the Dodge Racing program for giving me this opportunity. It's a tremendous honor to be given the chance to make my Winston Cup debut in top-quality equipment with a top-quality organization.

"My goals going into Rockingham are to give Dodge some good information for their 'R and D' program, stay out of trouble, finish the race and bring the car home in one piece. If I can do that, I'll be happy. I have a lot to learn about driving a Winston Cup car, and this is an awesome way to begin my education.

"I want to emphasize that this is a one-race deal. The opportunity came about after I did some testing for Dodge at Kentucky Speedway a couple of months back. When I was asked, I jumped at the chance to help Dodge and Ray. I'm honored that they thought enough of me to ask me to even get behind the wheel of one of their Cup cars. I'm not 'auditioning.' That's not something that Ray and I have even discussed. I went and tested for him and Dodge, and he is returning the favor by allowing me to drive one of his cars in this one race. That's the extent of it. Again, it's a great opportunity for me to get some seat time and learn, and I'm very humbled and appreciative to be given the chance to do that."
