Notes: This is the first time this specific combination of Goodyear Eagles will be used in NASCAR competition . . . the previous combination of left- and right-side for Rockingham were in place for the last three seasons . . . this is the first of three times Nextel Cup teams will compete on these tires in 2004 . . . Darlington (both races) is the other NASCAR track where teams will run this same combination this season . . . both the Nextel Cup and Busch Series cars will compete on the same tires this weekend . . . as on all ovals longer than one mile, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Rockingham . . . inner liner inflation should be 12-25 psi higher than that of the outer tire.
Goodyear Quote -- Mark Keto, Lead Engineer, Stock Car Tire Development: "At Rockingham, we are introducing a new tire construction on each side of the car, though the compounds are essentially the same as last year. This new set-up is more forgiving and provides a broader operating window to allow drivers to 'hustle' the car a little more through the corners."
