Notes: This is the second consecutive NASCAR Nextel Cup race weekend at Texas to which Goodyear has brought this specific combination of left- and right-side tires . . . all three series in action -- Nextel Cup, Busch and Craftsman Truck -- will run the same tire codes this weekend, though the Cup and Busch tires will be branded "Goodyear Eagle," while the truck tires will be branded "Goodyear Wrangler" . . . this is one of only two NASCAR tracks at which this tire combination will be run in 2005, with Homestead being the other . . . this left-side code (D-6852) is also run with different right-side codes at California, Charlotte, Chicagoland, Dover, Kansas, Kentucky and Michigan . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Texas . . . the air pressure in the inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
Goodyear Quote -- Mark Keto, Lead Engineer, Stock Car Racing: "This tire set-up was originally tested by Tony Stewart and Elliott Sadler in January of 2005. This is the same set-up that we ran here at Texas during the spring race weekend, and it is the same combination that all three major NASCAR series will run again at Homestead in a couple weeks."
