Carl Edwards - Ford interview 2008-08-18

Carl Edwards, driver of the No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion, will look to continue his winning streak this weekend in the NASCAR Nationwide and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at Bristol Motor Speedway. Edwards is currently second in points in both series.

IS THERE LESS BUMPING AND BANGING WITH THE NEW SURFACE? "With the new surface at Bristol there's probably less bumping just because you don't have to bump a guy out of the way to get a position, but I think it's better racing for sure."

DO YOU ENJOY LAYING THE FENDER TO SOMEONE? "No, I don't enjoy the races where you have to bump somebody out of the way to pass them. That's not any fun. I don't think that's the right way to race. It's frustrating when that's the only way you can pass somebody."

WILL IT BE COMFORTING TO KNOW YOU CAN GO TO BRISTOL WITH A POINTS CUSHION? "Oh yeah. It's great. This is the easiest most care-free time that you could have in Cup racing right now is being in the position where we're in the Chase and we don't have anything to lose. That's great."

IS THERE A TEMPTATION TO TRY SOME NEW THINGS WITH THE CAR? "Oh yeah. There's reason to try and do stuff. Anything you can try right now there's no down side, there's only an up side."
