DESPITE DAUNTING CHALLENGE, SAID REMAINS CONFIDENT

CONCORD, N.C. (May 24, 2005) -- Boris Said never lacks for confidence, but the Dean of right turns knows that this weekend's mission at Lowe's Motor Speedway might present his biggest challenge.

Said is looking to join the 43-car driver lineup for Sunday's Coca-Cola 600. But before he gets to Sunday, the renowned road racer from Carlsbad, Calif., will have to qualify his No. 36 CENTRIX Financial Chevrolet in Thursday night's session at the 1.5-mile oval.

"I'm going to be straight up, this could be a tough one -- there will be 18 drivers vying for the eight remaining spots," offered Said. "Lowe's is a unique track and I still haven't hit the marks there the way I would like to. But I have a great team behind me and deep down I know we can get the job done."

Said, who will enter 13 races for MB/Sutton Motorsports in 2005, did qualify for the three races he has entered to date -- the Daytona 500, Texas and Talladega.

"Texas and Lowe's are 1.5-mile tracks and that's about the only similarity they have," noted Said. "They each have their own personalities, and right now, I haven't meshed with the Lowe's personality. But I'm the type of guy who can like just about anyone so I am hopeful that Boris Said and Lowe's Motor Speedway can find a way to be compatible."

Said and Team CENTRIX have not lacked for effort at Lowe's. The team planned on an all-day test session May 10, but rain cut short the practice. Last weekend, Said entered the Nextel Open to get additional seat time at Lowe's.

"Last week really helped our cause," explained Said. "After missing out on a full-day of testing, we needed to enter the Nextel Open just for practice. We got better and I am hoping for more improvement when we start practicing on Thursday. "
