"The Coca-Cola 600 is our longest race of the year and that in and of itself is the challenge of the race. It's a race that you have to be mentally and physically prepared for. The track will adjust and change throughout the night and the team that's capable of adjusting and changing to the track the best is the one that's usually going to win."

Coke 600 Offers Test of Endurance . . . The Coca-Cola 600 is the longest race of the season for the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. The 600-mile race takes place on the super sensitive surface of the Lowe's Motor Speedway. The race begins at 5:30 p.m. EST before the sun goes down which means the race will transition from daylight to night-time skies, which presents one of the biggest challenges of the event.
"The track here is just so sensitive to so many different things," said Dale Jarrett. "This race starts at 5:30 p.m., so we'll have to deal with the way the track changes from daylight to night. That means that the cars are actually going to get faster the longer the race goes on so you have to be able to adapt that and make your car work. But that's the challenge of the 600 and that's what we look forward to as racers."
* Jarrett has three wins at Lowe's Motor Speedway -- the most recent taking place during the track's fall race in 1997.
* Since joining the #88 team at Robert Yates Racing, Jarrett has led laps in six races at Lowe's Motor Speedway for a total of 395 laps.
Parker Makes Point Race Debut . . . Shawn Parker was named crew chief for the #88 UPS Racing team prior to the running of The Winston last weekend. Armed with what was learned at The Winston, Parker is looking forward to this weekend's race.
"Last week definitely helped as far as communication and learning what Dale looks for in a car," Parker explained. "We're taking the car we raced at Texas but it has been completely redone and it has a new body on it. I think being able to go back to Charlotte after The Winston helps a lot too because we learned some things there last week that will help us this week and I'm looking forward to helping get things turned around for all the Dale Jarrett fans out there."
Jarrett Makes Appearances at Charlotte . . . With May "Speed weeks" officially underway, fans have invaded the greater Charlotte area for the various activities taking place in the Queen City. Jarrett will make various appearances around the city, but will be spending a great deal of time at the grand opening of Dale Jarrett Ford in Indian Trail, N.C. Jarrett will be at the dealership for the majority of the day on Friday, May 23rd. He will sign autographs 3 to 5 p.m. EST.
Additionally, Jarrett will appear on the Coca-Cola stage at the annual Speed Street festival in downtown Charlotte at 7 p.m., on Saturday, May 24th.
