David Gilliland:
How did the Sprint Showdown event last weekend help you prepare for this weekend's race?
"We learned a lot during last weekend's Showdown event as well as the Charlotte test session. As soon as the Showdown was over, Cully (Barraclough) and I sat down in the hauler and discussed what we both observed about the car's handling. Granted the Showdown was only a total of 40 laps, but we feel that those laps provided us with even more insight into the set-ups we're looking at for the 600 this weekend. In the grand scheme of things we wanted to make sure that we had as much information as possible for this weekend's car since it is such a grueling race. The key to this weekend is having a car that can perform for the full 600 miles and we feel really confident that our FreeCreditReport.com Ford will be that car."
Crew Chief, Cully Barraclough:
Based off of last weekend's All-Star events, what did the team learn for your return to Charlotte this weekend?
"Of course we would have loved to have raced our way into the All-Star race last week, but our main goal was to get a little more information for the 600 this weekend, and I think we were able to get that. We wanted our cars to be a little faster on the short runs and we accomplished that goal because on the first five laps of every run, we were able to pass guys right and left. The car we're bringing this weekend is the same one we ran at Vegas and Texas where we ran pretty fast. Last weekend's race along with the Charlotte test gave us a chance to learn a little more about tire wear which will be important this weekend since this is the longest race of the season. Our team feels confident that we should have a really great car for this weekend's 600 miles at Charlotte so keep an eye on our No. 38 FreeCreditReport.com Ford."
