NOTE:
The last time Roush Racing had all five of its drivers finish in the top 10 of a NNC race came at Michigan on Aug. 22, 2004 when Greg Biffle and Mark Martin finished one-two. Kurt Busch was sixth while Matt Kenseth was eighth and Carl Edwards 10th. That race also marked the Cup debut for Edwards.
CARL EDWARDS -- No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion (Finished 3rd)
"We started out pretty bad. The car felt pretty bad to me and we went backwards and forwards and then I pulled in the pits when the red light was blinking real big right in my face, and we recovered. Wally Brown and the guys worked really hard and got it running better, but I concur with Jimmie. Kasey's car was just pretty awesome there at the end. When he went by me I couldn't believe how fast he was going. Ours was pretty decent right then and I couldn't keep up, so third place was the best we ran really all night, so I was pretty happy with it -- and a win yesterday, it was good."
WAS IT REFRESHING TO SEE SOMEBODY ELSE WIN HERE BESIDES JIMMIE?
"Honestly, Jimmie is a great guy. I think he's an unbelievable competitor and I'd have been happy for him to win just as much for Kasey. You know you're fast at a place when there are people running around wearing anybody but Jimmie t-shirts. I saw a couple of those, but I think they just do their job. I wasn't really happy to see him not win. I would have been really pumped for him to see him win that many in a row."
DID YOU TAKE TWO OR FOUR TIRES ON THE LAST STOP?
"Wow, that was pretty interesting that last stop. We took two and then we were on pit road and the caution came out and I thought that was a bad thing, but we ended up coming out in the lead so it worked out. Kasey took two and it worked for him, so I don't think it was the two tires that let those guys get by, I just don't think our car was fast enough. It was kind of funny because it was like, 'Kasey took two,' and I thought, 'Alright, he won't be a factor.' I was really worried about Jimmie because he had four and I thought that was gonna be the ticket."
DO YOU FEEL YOU'RE BACK ON TRACK TO MAKE THE CHASE?
"Absolutely. I feel like we were either gonna make the chase or not, but I'm doing the most I can do and I know my team is doing the most they can do. We've had some bad luck and that's how racing goes. Tonight we dodged all sorts of things and had great luck and finished third. We won yesterday, so I'm just trying to keep my head up and have a good time and do the best I can. If we end up finishing like we've been running, then that would be great and we're gonna be just fine."
WERE THE TWO TIRES SCUFFS AND HOW MUCH COULD YOU TELL A CHANGE IN THE TIRE EACH TIME YOU PITTED?
"Yeah, it mattered a lot. I think they were stickers. I'm pretty sure they were sticker tires we put on the right side. I could tell a lot. They would go awesome for a little while and then mine would just start shaking so bad. The whole car would shake. That's what I fought all day, but when we put new tires on the thing was pretty good. But it was like Denny said and Jimmie said, the car is so free that's why you see guys losing it because it's hard to drive around this place with that tire real loose."
DID YOU FEEL THE EXTRA 100 MILES?
"It's like when they say, 'OK, five laps to halfway,' it feels like you've been racing all day already. It's a long race, but I really like the long races. If it would have been a 500-mile race, we probably would have finished pretty terribly because we needed all that time to go faster. I like the longer races and then the way that one ended, I felt like a million bucks. I was so pumped up racing so hard with Jimmie, so it didn't bother me really."
