RUSTY WALLACE (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Intrepid)

"I'm real happy with that lap. We'll put it in race trim and get ready for Saturday night. Last night I was here I started about 34th, so I feel a lot better about this run."

BILL ELLIOTT (No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Intrepid)

"You never know what you can do until you have to do it. I'm proud of these guys. They believe in me week in and week out. That's what it's all about. We had good momentum last week, but this is another week. Charlotte has been bad and good to me, so we'll just see what happens this weekend. I still feel like the car could have been a little bit better. The problem is you practice when the track is a little bit warmer and then you turn around and qualify and it's quite a bit cooler. You just have to give it hour best shot.

"I don't think the track will change too much between now and the end. We had some good runs the last six or seven races. Between Jeremy and myself, we've been up front consistently the past two weeks. Ray and the guys have done a great job, and Dodge has really stepped up and helped us the last couple of years. I'm very proud of where our team is this point in the season. I was very disappointed last week. It was just one of those situations where you give it all you've got and still come up second. It makes for a disappointing day."

JEREMY MAYFIELD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Intrepid)

"That's the best I've ever gotten through the corners here at Charlotte. We were half a second slower than we've been all day. I don't understand that. The car drove great. We made some changes before qualifying. It was awesome, but that's all I could get out of it. We slowed down for some reason. We've got to figure out why."

CASEY MEARS (No. 41 Target Dodge Intrepid)

"We picked up and that's good for us. Everybody is picking up. The track has got a lot better. We've been fighting a tight condition all day long in practice. We couldn't get off turn four. I was a little bit loose the last run, but we were still tight off four. I was as tight as I'd been all day in qualifying. We're happy. We picked up. We'll be in the middle of the pack, but we'll work on race trim. Actually, I'm happy to have the Energizer Bunny on the car. It's pink, but he's wearing classes and he's cool."

STERLING MARLIN (No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid)

"We got a little loose the first lap, and then the second lap was the same speed. That's about normal for us at Charlotte. We don't qualify that well at Charlotte, but once the race starts we'll be all right. We had a good car here this spring. We could have won the race, but we couldn't get good track position. On restarts, the leader would be going into turn three and we'd still be in turns one and two. It's hard to pass slow cars. Maybe we can get some good track position Saturday night and stay up front."
