JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE'S IMPALA SS, will start on the pole of Saturday night's Bank of America 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway as a result of qualifying being cancelled due to inclement weather and the field being set by provisions in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) rule book. As the point's leader, Johnson will bring the field to the green flag. This is the eighth time this season rain has forced the field to be lined up per the rule book.
The remaining five Team Chevy drivers in the Chase will start the 334-lap/501-mile race as follows: Jeff Burton, No. 31 AT&T Impala SS -- 4th; Clint Bowyer, No. 07 Jack Daniel's Impala SS -- 5th; Kevin Harvick, No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil/Driven to the Outdoors Impala SS -- 6th; Jeff Gordon, No. 24 DuPont Impala SS -- 8th and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., No. 88 AMP Energy/National Guard Impala SS -- 10th.
A total of 14 Chevrolet Impala SS drivers will start Saturday night's race, round five of the Chase.
Brad Keselowski, No. 25 GODADDY.com Impala SS, will not make his career-first NSCS start as a result of no qualifying.
The race is scheduled to take the green flag at 7:25 p.m. Saturday evening with live coverage on ABC TV, PRN Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio.
BRAD KESELOWSKI, NO. 25 GODADDY.COM IMPALA SS:
ON SPRINT CUP QUALIFYING BEING RAINED OUT: "I was looking forward to driving the GoDaddy.com Chevrolet this weekend, so it's obviously disappointing. We can control a lot of things, but the weather isn't one of them. The forecast was iffy all week, so we knew a rainout was possible. There's just nothing we can do about it. Lance (McGrew, crew chief) and everyone at Hendrick Motorsports worked so hard putting this effort together. We're going to run the Cup race at Texas, so now we can shift our focus to that. Hopefully we'll have great weather. We've still got some racing left to do this week, so I'm looking forward to the Nationwide race tomorrow night. We have a good car, so hopefully we can build on what we did here in May and have another solid run."
