Schrader's Thoughts On The UAW-GM 500...
"People always want to know what my favorite track is, and Charlotte is definitely one of the tracks at the top of my list. I think that it is one of everybody's favorites because this is our home turf. After being on the road for weeks on end, we'll finally get to be at home for a weekend with our family. This is a big race for all the teams because a lot of the crew guys get the chance to bring their family out to a race. It's also an exciting weekend for the guys who stay at home and work in the shop because they get the chance to see all their hard work in action on the race track.
"Charlotte is a fun track anyway because it changes so much during the course of the weekend. It makes for a challenging and grueling day for everyone on the team."
"M&M's"® Racing At Lowe's Motor Speedway ...
* It's become an annual tradition for the "M&M's"® Racing Team. Just like Oct. 31st means ghouls, goblins and candy, the fall Charlotte race means a special Halloween paint scheme for the No. 36. This year's paint scheme features Yellow on the back of the car trick-or-treating in a ghost costume, Red dressed as a vampire and Crispy camping out in a pumpkin patch. The paint scheme also features the festive orange and black "M&M's"® that you'll find in a bag of "M&M's"® during the Halloween season.
"This is one of my family's favorite cars all season," Schrader said. "My wife Ann's favorite season is definitely Halloween. She goes all out when decorating the house for Oct. 31st. We have black cats, pumpkins, witches - you name it - everywhere. If you see her in a witch's hat this weekend, don't be surprised."
* The "M&M's"® Racing Team had a strong qualifying effort at Charlotte in the spring, but an ill-handling race car relegated the team to an 18th-place finish. This time around, the "M&M's"® Racing Team is hoping for a top 10. The No. 36 that takes the track this weekend will be the same that the team ran in May.
* Schrader is already looking forward to next season's fall race at Lowe's Motor Speedway. It was announced earlier this season that the October event will be held under the lights.
"I love a good Saturday night race, and I think that a race under the lights at Charlotte in October will be a lot of fun for everyone," Schrader said.
