Bliss Ready for Night Run in 71 TaxSlayer.com Chevy
Mooresville, North Carolina, (October 13, 2009) - Mike Bliss and TRG Motorsports are ready to tackle the NASCAR Banking 500 only from Bank of America at Lowe's Motor Speedway to be run Saturday night, October 17.
Atl adv Bliss will pilot the TRG Motorsports No. 71 TaxSlayer.com Chevrolet Impala SS for the second time this season, the first was at Richmond. Bliss qualified seventh at Lowe's in the May race and won the Nationwide event on the same weekend. Qualifying will be an important component for the team as 48 cars are currently on the entry for this weekend's race.
"I have a good track record at Charlotte so far this year," Bliss said. "I won the Nationwide race there in May and qualified seventh for the Sprint Cup race. This weekend could be a tough race to make with so many good cars entered."
Bliss knows what he will need in the car to have a successful run this weekend.
"To have a good car it will depend a lot on the weather. If it is sunny and hot during practice the car will change a lot when we go to qualify at 8:00 p.m. At night the car will gain a lot of grip. You can't get overly excited about the race car if it is bad during the day. Slugger (Labbe, crew chief) has been there and I have been there and we know what is going to happen. If you are pretty good in the day, you are going to be very good at night. You don't want to tighten the thing up because you are real loose during the day. We will need to gas it up at night and the track should hold you. Keeping the car rolling through the middle of the corner and not letting it get too tight or too loose into the turn will be key. Loose into the turn will slow you down a lot at Charlotte. Getting the car squared up off the corner is important. You can't be tight loose up off of the corner where you have to put a lot of steering wheel into it."
TRG Motorsports team principal Kevin Buckler is looking forward to the second race at Lowe's.
"We will be running the same car that we ran last weekend at California," Buckler said. "That is a good thing. The car was fast in California and the guys had a good setup on it, even though we could not afford to run the complete race. We did have the opportunity to prove the setup which we hope will be a key to first qualifying strong and then running good in the race. Once again we will have a strong contingent of TaxSlayer.com folks at the track and we hope to give them a good showing."
