JIMMMIE JOHNSON , NO. 48 LOWE'S IMPALA SS:
OBVIOUSLY STARTING ON THE POLE HAS TO BE AN ADVANTAGE AS YOU LOOK TO MAINTAIN YOUR LEAD IN THE CHASE:
"Yes, it is. The guys we are racing are right there with us, so it isn't a huge advantage. But having the first pit stall is going to be helpful. We have seen some things happen here on pit road. It is advantage to be in that first pit stall here at Lowe's Motor Speedway. We are excited about that. I wish I had something to talk about. I made, I think, seven laps in a Nationwide car. Looked at my Cup, ate a bunch of junk food in the Cup trailer and ready to go home, I guess."
AS WELL AS YOU RUN HERE AT LOWE'S, DO YOU THINK IT IS A HUGE ADVANTAGE TO BE STARTING ON THE POLE HERE?
"I do think it is a big advantage to start up front here. The track has changed a lot, especially with this new asphalt that is down and the tire we run on it. I think the advantage we had years back has kind of gone away. I mean, Kasey Kahne has had more momentum here I'd say than just about anyone so far in the last two or three years. We have been right there. We've been a good top-five car, but, I hope we can get that magic back and find it here, especially with the Lowe's Chevy at Lowe's Motor Speedway. It has been nice the last few years to have that. Kasey has been strong and I can remember (Denny) Hamlin being real strong based on the test. Carl (Edwards) was strong. The No. 16 (Greg Biffle) was strong. So, it is going to be nice to have that track position, but we are all there together in one big group and we will just race from there."
HAVE YOU DISCUSSED TWO TIRES, FOUR TIRES, NO TIRES ON STOPS?
"I think it is something we will all look at. I wouldn't be surprised if guys tried it at the test. I know the longer we ran, the more comfortable those tires were and they had very little drop off once they fell off, they stabilized. I would imagine that would take place again. At some point we will get in some practice and get a real good indication of the wear and what that will be. But, if I remember right in the spring, we did a lot of two tire stuff. I think that will be the case again."
