MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Oct. 10, 2007) -- With only six races remaining in the 2007 season, the NASCAR Cup Series heads back to Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C., for one final home race.

Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger, will make his 14th Cup start at Lowe's Motor Speedway, and the 219th of his Cup career.

Newman has an average start of 4.2 and an average finish of 21.5 at the 1.5-mile track. He only has two starts outside the top five at the speedway -- both in 2006 -- and he has earned six Bud Pole Awards, including one in May 2007.

"The last time we were in Charlotte, we had a really good, fast car and won the pole -- the first of three in a row -- but we had problems with the motor and went out of the race early," Newman said. "We're hoping to get back in the Alltel Dodge Charger at Lowe's and hopefully, have a much better finish there this time and get a win before the season is over."

Newman possesses five top-10 finishes at LMS, including three top-fives. He finished 39th in May after engine troubles eliminated him from the race after only 172 laps.

Newman has led 232 laps in seven Charlotte races. He has completed 3,660 laps of a possible 4,682 since he made his Cup debut at the North Carolina track in May 2001. Newman has a completion rate of 78.2 percent at the facility that opened in 1960.

Crew Chief Michael Nelson and the No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger team will take PRS-071 to Charlotte as their primary car. This car was last used at Kansas where Newman started 42nd and finished 43rd after the engine failed 108 laps into the rain-shortened event. The back-up car is PRS-108. It was last used in Michigan where Newman qualified 34th and finished 16th after rain delayed the race until Tuesday morning.
