Roush Fenway Looks to Get Over Hump at Chicagoland
Organization has been strong on 1.5-mile ovals

Joliet, Ill. (July 9, 2010) -- Four times Roush Fenway Fords have finished runner-up in NASCAR competition at the 1.5-mile D-shaped oval of Chicagoland Speedway. Twice in the Sprint Cup Series and twice in the Nationwide Series, Roush Fenway has been the second car to take the checkered flag, but never has the organization been able to drive one of its celebrated Fords into victory lane.

A somewhat surprising fact considering the team's rich historical pedigree on mile-and-a-half racetracks. In fact Roush Fenway has won 73 NASCAR races on the eight 1.5-mile ovals on the circuit. Not only is Chicago the 1.5-mile track where Roush Fenway has yet to win, it is the only track on the NASCAR circuit that hosts multiple series (and raced over two times) where the team has not taken a checkered flag home.

The team will again look to reverse that trend this weekend when it takes to the track in both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series this weekend at Chicagoland. While the team has yet to come in first at Chicago, there has been success. Matt Kenseth came just a couple of places from sweeping the track in 2007; finishing second in both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup races that season.

In 2007 Kenseth and Carl Edwards finished two-three in the Sprint Cup event at Chicagoland. Overall, the team boast 28 top-10 finishes, 13 top-fives and two poles, while leading 656 laps in NASCAR action at Chicagoland.

Roush Fenway will look to build on that success this weekend as they look to break into the win column at Chicagoland for the first time.
